Mono
Help Mono Escape!
This game was created for the Eclipse Publishing Game Jam and was developed entirely by one person in less than 3 days.
Take control of Mono and help him escape from prison. Avoid the traps scattered throughout the world, carefully choose the direction of your movements, and use your dash to overcome the obstacles standing in your way.
Highly recommended to play with a joystick.
Controls
Keyboard
• Arrow Keys: Move and choose the dash direction • Enter or Space: Jump • X: Dash • ESC: Pause
The dash can only be used while Mono is off the ground.
Controller
• D-Pad or Left Analog Stick: Move and choose the dash direction • A: Jump • X: Dash • Start: Pause
Just like with the keyboard, the dash can only be used while Mono is off the ground.
Made by One Person
All of the code and pixel art were made by me.
The music was created by AlkaKrab, and the sound effects were sourced from Pixabay.
The entire game was developed in less than 3 days for the game jam. Because of the extremely limited time, I had to prioritize gameplay.
I would have loved to create a more polished title screen, a better pause system, and add more little details and polish, but unfortunately, I ran out of time.
Even so, I put all my effort into making the gameplay as fun and enjoyable as possible within the time available.
Now It's Up to You!
Help Mono escape from prison.
Avoid the traps, find your way through the world, and survive everything it throws at you.
Good luck, Mono! ❤️

Great work! Really fun and challenging game with a very solid dynamic.
Here is some feedback from my playthrough:
What I loved:
- Soundtrack (10/10): AlkaKrab did an amazing job here, the music really elevates the experience!
- Atmosphere & Character (10/10): The visual identity and the main character feel great.
- Animations: Loved the animated background and interactive elements (especially the save point and the bouncing plant).
Points for improvement / Polish:
- UI/HUD: A subtle, lightweight UI/HUD would help make the overall game look and feel more polished and refined.
- Level Design & Progression: Some sections can be quite punishing. Having to backtrack and redo the exact same tricky section can lead to frustration and make players want to give up. Smoothing out the difficulty curve and checkpoint placement would help a lot.
- Jump / Dash Timer Feedback: The countdown indicator ("2.. 1..") was a bit confusing at first — I wasn't sure if it was a countdown timer or a counter of how many times I could press the button.
- Dash Mechanics: Having to press X twice felt a bit stiff/clunky. While having the option to cancel/abort a dash definitely has tactical value, the movement might feel much smoother if it were a "hold to aim, release to dash" mechanic instead.
Impressive accomplishment for a 3-day jam project. Congrats!
Thank you, I liked the project and intend to work on it; this feedback is great for making those adjustments.
